The Great Water Walk is Back!

The annual Fernwood school fundraiser is up and coming again and the children's class has taken on fundraising with gusto this year. They baked more cookies, made more signs, flags, pamphlets and took to the Saturday market and earned $272! So wonderful to see the enthusiasm for service in all the young ones who participated. This year, they have decided to try to reach the goal of raising $900, which is enough to build one well in India. So they will be back at it again this weekend.

Táhirih "The Pure One"

We will be learning more about spiritual figures from history this year in children's classes, focussing mainly on the manifestations of God (e.g. Moses, Jesus, Muhammad and Bahá’u’lláh). This class however, focussed on Táhirih (the name given by Bahá’u’lláh means "Pure One"), who's thirst for spiritual knowledge started her on a path that resulted in her becoming a champion for equality in a time when women were anything but considered equal nearly 200 years ago.

Fundraising for the Great Water Walk

This past weekend, we decided to try to help out with Fernwood Elementary's Great Water Walk fundraiser for Children's Classes.

For the past 12 years, Fernwood has been supporting SOPAR’s village well programme in Andhra Pradesh, India. During that time, the money we have raised has helped over 4600 people in 26 villages attain clean, safe water close to their homes.

We all worked on baking cookies and making signs to bring to the Market. It truly was a wonderful experience and we raised $111 for Great Water Walk! Thanks to all the children, parents and grandparents who helped make it such a success.
